Laura McLaughlin received her master’s in counseling from the University of Massachusetts at Boston in 1995. She is a licensed mental health counselor and a licensed marriage and family therapist. She is an Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and maintains membership in the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), the American Hippotherapy Association, the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. Over the last 20 years, Laura has worked with youth and families in residential, community, home-based, outpatient and outdoor settings. Areas of expertise include working with complex family systems, couples counseling and helping individuals of all ages overcome emotional difficulties originating from traumatic life experiences. Her areas of interest include clinical supervision, consultation, EMDR, clinical hypnosis, meditation, neurofeedback, equine assisted psychotherapy and equine assisted EMDR. Laura also utilizes a variety of therapeutic models such as somatic experiencing, polyvagal theory, CBT, DBT and IFS.
